GEMS 8th Grade Debate Unit
Objective: To address shifts required by the Common Core State Standards that affect content areas.
(Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics)
Students will:
- Read, writing, speak, and act grounded in evidence
- Extract evidence to create strong arguments
- Use multiple texts effectively (cite evidence, compare and contrast ideas, evaluate arguments)
- Practice close reading
- Use evidence from a variety of media
